Omarion Rushing, a distinguished 2025 graduate of Simsboro High School, has been named a recipient of the prestigious Wisdom, Strength & Endurance Scholarship presented by the Ogunyemi Family Foundation. A dedicated student and community leader, Omarion maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while actively participating in FBLA, FFA, choir, student council, FCCLA, 4-H, and volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club. Despite the devastating loss of both his grandmother and aunt within a three-month span, Omarion turned grief into purpose, honoring their legacy through hard work and the pursuit of his dreams. He has since embraced public speaking, carrying their resilience with him each time he steps on stage. Omarion lives by the powerful belief that “facing challenges is difficult… so is living with the regret of not trying.”
Darius James, an exceptional student and leader, has been honored as a 2025 recipient of the Wisdom, Strength & Endurance Scholarship presented by the Ogunyemi Family Foundation. A committed member of the National Honor Society, Darius also served as a Bearcats mentor, participated in Rotary Youth Leadership, and stood out as an athlete on both the football and track teams. Beyond school, he has given back to his community as a volunteer for the Salvation Army, the Council on Aging, and local nursing homes, while also serving as a musician at Farmerville COGIC. Despite being teased for being adopted—an experience that once impacted his self-esteem—Darius found strength through the guidance of a teacher with a shared experience. He now proudly embraces his identity, saying he overcame adversity by “embracing his uniqueness, radiating positivity, and loving who he is without seeking the validation of others.”
